World Cup final goes to extra-time as Fernandez sent off

The World Cup final between Spain and Argentina went to extra-time after a goalless draw in normal time on Sunday.

Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez was sent off for a second booking after a late barge three minutes into stoppage time.

What John Calipari said about Arkansas basketball's nonconference game vs Indiana

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball will make a second trip to Madison Square Garden under John Calipari this winter.

The Razorbacks announced a nonconference game against Indiana on Monday, July 20. The Hogs and Hoosiers will square off inside the world's most-famous basketball arena on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Calipari went to social media following the announcement and released an 81-second video promoting the matchup. He wants Arkansas fans to make the pilgrimage.

"We got to make sure we show the Garden that we travel better than Indiana travels," Calipari said. "They're going to have a ton of people there. Mark that date down. We need you at that game."

Calipari went on to say he wants Arkansas to play at Madison Square Garden every year because of the national spotlight it provides the program. The Hall of Fame head coach claimed that 8,000 fans traveled to New York City in 2024 when the Hogs beat Michigan during his debut season.

Calipari also hinted more scheduling news is around the corner. Arkansas will play nonconference games away from Bud Walton Arena against Michigan State (Detroit), North Carolina and Arizona (Phoenix) in addition to Indiana. At the moment, the Hogs do not have a home game scheduled against a Power 4 opponent.

"We like to play anybody, anywhere, any time," Calipari said.

Calipari has played in Madison Square Garden 28 times as a college head coach and is 16-12 all-time in the historic arena. He first coached at the Garden in the 1991 NIT Final Four while at UMass.

Indiana went 18-14 last year and missed the NCAA tournament in Darian DeVries first season as the program's head coach. The Hoosiers brought in seven players through the transfer portal.

Calipari’s third squad in Fayetteville features the return of Billy Richmond III, who averaged 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists last season. He will be joined by the nation’s top-rated freshman class that includes consensus National High School Player of the Year Jordan Smith Jr., wing JJ Andrews, wing Abdou Toure, guard Davion Thompson forward Miikka Muurinen, along with Georgia transfer guard Jeremiah Wilkinson.
